Children showcase their talent in ‘Save Our Ocean’ colouring competition

The children’s colouring competition happening at CityOne Megamall, Kuching on Dec 29 during the Popular Mega Bookfair was a chance for children to showcase their talent in art.

With a total prize worth of RM4,000 sponsored by Faber-Castell, the ‘Save Our Ocean’ colouring competition organised by Popular Malaysia was divided into two categories; Category A and B for children aged five to eight years old and nine to 12 years old respectively.

Winning first place for Category A was eight year old Chang Shi Maa walking away with a Faber-Castell hamper worth RM500 and a certificate of participation.

Second place for Category A was snatched by Janlery Goh while Cindy Then Xia Ting, both eight walked away proudly in third place taking away a Faber-Castell hamper worth RM300 as well as a certificate of participation and a Faber-Castell hamper worth RM200 as well as a a certificate of participation respectively.

Meanwhile for Category B, 12 year old Lim Yue Sim emerged as the winner walking away with a Faber-Castell hamper worth hamper worth RM500 and a certificate of participation.

Second place for Category B was snatched by Zoe Ng Chong while Lim Pei Zuan both 11 years old came in third place taking away a Faber-Castell hamper worth RM300 as well as a certificate of participation and a Faber-Castell hamper worth RM200 as well as a a certificate of participation respectively.

In addition, 10 participants from both Category A and B received consolation prizes where they each received a Faber-Castell hamper worth RM100 and certificate of participation.

The colouring competition has a total of 71 participants for Category A and 60 participants for Category B.

During the competition, the participants were only allowed to use Faber-Castell watercolour gel pastels for Category A while for Category B, the participants were only allowed to use Faber-Castell watercolour pencils.

Happening from Dec 23 to Jan 2 next year, the Popular Mega Bookfair is filled with various fun and exciting activities for visitors.

Among the activities is a calligraphy competition on Jan 1 next year from 11 am till 1.45 pm.

Besides that, there will also be a meet a sharing session with author of ‘Once Upon a Miao’ Jian Goh on Dec 31 from 12 pm to 12.45 pm and Peter Su from 5 pm to 7pm.

Food lovers are invited to join a cooking demonstration session by Chef Fazalina, Chef Norzailina and Chef Hanieliza on Dec 31 from 1 pm to 3.45 pm.
