Temporary suspension of water-based activities at Loagan Bunut National Park

MIRI: Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) issued a notice today that water-based activities at Loagan Bunut National Park would be temporarily suspended with immediate effect.

The corporation pointed out that now that the North East Monsoon has set in, there have been frequent rain and strong winds.

“Rain coupled with strong winds is known to cause unpredictable or sudden huge swells at the Loagan Bunut and could be dangerous.

“The suspension would last at least until the monsoon passes. This suspension is for the safety of the visitors,” said SFC in a press release today.

Although land-based activities such as trekking or bird-watching are not affected by this suspension order, SFC advises visitors to check with the park personnel for advice and information to facilitate their activities.

For further information and clarifications, contact Loagan Bunut National Park at 019-8610994 or National Park Booking Office, Miri at 085-434184 or 085-435384.
