BANGKOK: Thailand has again been voted as the Best Wedding Destination by readers of the renowned publication Travel + Leisure India and South Asia. This marks the fifth year in a row that Thailand has received this prestigious award.

The Best Wedding Destination is chosen via a readers’ poll in the print and online versions of Travel + Leisure India and South Asia. Final decisions are also based on expert opinion.

Thailand’s top ranking reflects the huge popularity of Thailand for Indian wedding planners and couples seeking a romantic destination. The award was presented on Nov 17 at the Shangri-La hotel in New Delhi.

Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said, “The fact that Thailand has now won this award for the fifth year running, shows how attractive the kingdom is to couples seeking an amazing and romantic wedding venue. Thailand’s wedding industry and hotels are experienced in hosting events of all sizes and meeting the unique needs and desires of couples wanting a romantic day. What’s more, our, luxurious accommodation and attractions ensure weddings will be remembered forever.”

According to the TAT New Delhi Office, each year around 400 Indian weddings are held in Thailand at various locations; such as, Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Rayong, Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak and Chiang Mai.

Thailand is also a favourite among Indian visitors for celebrations such as anniversaries, birthdays, family re-union, bachelors and bachelorette trips.
