A short film starring famous Monkey King actor Liu Xiao Ling Tong has gone viral on Facebook.

Bangsar-bAbE said “Walker, Believer, starring Liu Xiao Ling Tong, is true, simple and touching.”

Liu Xiao Ling Tong starred in the 1986 television series Journey to the West, playing the role of Dasheng (Sun Wukong), a mythological figure who is a monkey born from a stone and has superpower. The character is often regarded as the Chinese version of Superman. Journey to the West made an instant stir among audiences and became a classic in China.

The video, with Bangsar-bAbE’s English translation, is an authentic retelling of backstage story of Journey to the West.

In the video, Liu Xiao Ling Tong explains in detail the effort he undertook to master the ancient theatrical form, include looking directly at a burning candle or any kind of intense light, following a ping pong ball without missing a second of the ball’s movement, etc, to recreate the character of Dasheng. “Only when being trustworthy to the audience can I feel no shame of myself.” He said in the video.

The short film has received rave reviews in China. Chinese online automobile platform Dasheng Auto Service, the producer of the film, chose Liu Xiao Ling Tong as its spokesperson and launched the “trustworthiness”-themed film as Liu Xiao Ling Tong’s steady, reliable and trustworthy presence on the screen accurately reflects the brand’s message.

In addition to being touched by the story of Liu Xiao Ling Tong, comments from Facebook fans who loved the film also reflect their call for integrity and trust.
