1,600 brave rain at Unimas Run 2016
KOTA SAMARAHAN: Despite heavy rain and major blackout that affected Kota Samarahan on Sunday, it did not break down the spirit of 1, 657 runners of the Unimas Run 2016.
The run, held at Stadium Unimas was organised by Unimas Sports Centre in collaboration with Lea Sports Centre and Kesatuan Sekerja Kakitangan Am Unimas (Kesaumas) comprised three categories namely the 10km men and women, 10km IPT (higher institute students) men and women, 8km students (boys and girls), and 5km fun run (open).
“In the mission of encouraging local youth community of all races and backgrounds to unite together in a healthy activity, we proudly stepped in as the main sponsor of this event, sponsoring various sportswear products and gift vouchers as well as establishing the main apparel for this run, for the participants and event crew,
“The reception from the public was overwhelming, particularly on the race route, the finisher medals design, the prizes offered, the design and quality of the run apparel as well as the coordination of the crews which made the whole event even more colorful. We hope to improve continuously on our next events and runs in the future,” said Lea Holdings Sdn Bhd in a press release.
Assistant Minister for Early Childhood Education and Family Development Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali flagged off the run together with Unimas deputy vice chancellor Professor Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman.
The event was also supported by Revive Isotonic Drink, Nestle, Maxis.
Also present was Lea Sports Centre managing director Raymond Sim.
