MPHS will be sporting a new look soon!

Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites (MPHS) is looking forward to a new look with more refurbishment and upgrading works to be done next year.

During the hotel’s soft launching ceremony on Nov 28, Felda Investment Corporation Hospitality Management Sdn Bhd (FIC) chief executive officer Megat Shahrul Azman Abas  announced that other refurbishment projects and upgrades will be carried out on room interiors, extensions of some of the outlets and facilities in the hotel.

According to Megat, the management will also improve the corporate governance and standard operating procedures of MPHS making it comparable to other hotels.

“We want to bring back the glorious days of Merdeka Palace and make it the flagship of FIC hotels.”

Megat also pointed out FIC’s involvement in Kuching was to contribute to the development of Sarawak tourism, providing job opportunities for Sarawakians and bringing synergy in to increase the tourism income for the state.

The ceremony was launched by Felda Group chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad.

Also present were MPHS hotel manager Mark Ferguson, Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) chairman Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Abang Openg, FIC board of directors Datuk Hanapi Suhada, Datuk Nik Azman Mohd Zain, Datuk Nik Azman Mohd Zain, Datuk Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid and Datuk Omar Salim.

FIC took over the management of MPHS since June last year.

Apart from MPHS, FIC also managed Grand Beach Resort in Port Dickson, Grand Borneo Hotel Kota Kinabalu in and Grand Plaza Kensington in London.
