Awie sweetens success of Samarahan Bike Fest 2016
KOTA SAMARAHAN: Malaysian rock singer and actor Awie’s appearance left sweet memories for thousands of fans after his singing performance in conjunction with the 5th Samarahan Bike Fest (SBF) held at Aiman Mall here recently.
The 5th Samarahan Bike Fest chairman Afiq Fikri Ibrahim said that due to his ever growing popularity, Awie has been chosen to attract more visitors to the festival which then received such exceptional response.
“We brought in Awie to provide a variation to the fifth edition of Samarahan Bike Fest, which has indeed brought such remarkable impact to thousands of fans here,” said Afiq.
Local band The Family Man warmed up the stage by performing some of their popular songs, before Awie appeared and entertained the crowd with four of his chart-topping hits including ‘Layang Layang Putus Talinya’, ‘Kamelia’, ‘Sejati’ and ‘Terima Kasih’.
Other activities that were organised at the festival include presentation of mementos to 90 bikers clubs, as well as Mr Bikers SBF 2016 and Ratu Bikers SBF 2016 competitions.
The SBF 2016 was held from Sept 23 to 25 and aimed at gathering bike owners across Borneo including Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, the Federal Territory of Labuan, Sabah dan Sarawak.
The festival organised by Tegar Bikers Motor Club featured lots of interesting attractions to further strengthen the programme.
“It is a foundation of society and in particular owners of the two-wheeled vehicles or bikers to interact with each other throughout the festival,” he added.
Also present were Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris and Tegar Bikers Motor Club president Abdul Khalid Manap.
