Proud father and local celebrity Winson Voon celebrated the inspiration behind his new single ‘Purple Field’ in an official release-slash-birthday party on September 7 for firstborn daughter Isabella Voon as she turned one.
Just three weeks before Isabella was born, Voon wrote and dedicated ‘Purple Field’ to her, calling it her birthday present written from his heart.
Besides a short slideshow of his daughter’s photos on display during the official release of his new single ‘Purple Field’, they also held “zhua zhou” (抓周), a unique Chinese ritual typically performed for one-year-olds to predict the child’s future career path.
Several items representing various career paths were placed in front of her – a laptop, piano keyboard, cellphone, book, and a tiara among many others. She picked the cellphone, which represents the field of communications.
For proud father Voon: “Honestly when that time comes, I don’t think I will interfere with her choice of career as long as she grows up to be a happy and healthy person.
“But it will be a different story if she brings home a boyfriend, I will be jealous!”
Voon’s wife agreed that Isabella could only start dating when she turned 25 years old.
“Our baby girl has brought us abundance joy despite the challenges; for that I’m truly blessed,” she added.
