[/dropcap]M[/dropcap]alaysians should always feel at home living in a multiracial, multi-religious and multi-ethnic country like Malaysia.
“The feeling of being at home should always be fostered among citizens and it is the feeling that we must continue to strengthen. We must treat each other like brothers and sisters,” said Samarahan District Council (SDC) head Datuk Peter Minos in his speech during the Malaysia Day celebration held at The Summer Shopping Mall today (Sept 17).
“It is also right for us to always show our support to fellow Malaysians, regardless of our social background, race and religion in their noble endeavors. As such to our badminton legend Dato Lee Chong Wei as well as the state’s diving queen Pandelela Rinong. We honor them for their great efforts in making the country proud internationally,” he said.
The Malaysia Day celebration was organised by SDC in collaboration with The Summer Shopping Mall.
“This event is organised to encourage fellow citizens to always respect this historical day to all Malaysians, in the hope for us to always aim to make the country progressively moving forward,” he added at the event which saw members of the public being led to sing national and state anthems and pledging to become better citizens.
Other activities included in the one-day event were a fashion show with designs inspired by the national and state flags, a silat performance, poetry recitation, busking, and a singing competition of patriotic songs.
