Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) recently hosted the ‘Majlis Berbuka Puasa dan Khatam Al-Quran’ for 57 children from Yayasan Kemajuan Insan Sarawak (Yakin) and Baiturrahmah at its headquarters near Tabuan Jaya here.

The event was organised by PPKS Surau Darul Ilmi Committee in collaboration with PPKS Social, Recreational and Sports Club (SRSC) and PPKS MyCafe.

The guests were treated to an array of lip-smacking local delicacies by PPKS MyCafe.

To add to the celebratory mood, the children who were between seven to 17 years old were presented with festive goodies, courtesy of the PPKS Group of Companies.

Apart from savouring the scrumptious feast, the night also saw PPKS Vocational College students together with the children from Yakin and Baiturrahmah perform a Khatam al-Quran ceremony.

Prior to the opening of fast, the children from Yakin were given a motivational talk by invited guest Ustaz Adnan Zain.

The event is part of the PPKS’ ongoing efforts to foster closer ties with the local communities and community outreach programme, as the holy month of Ramadhan is also a time for charity.

Also present were PPKS management council members Datuk Maznah Dasmi and Hilmi Othman.
