Empowerment Series: ‘Waste and Our Generation’ happening at Unimas today!

Vrious local authorities will be speaking at an empowerment session at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) today on the financial and environmental costs of ensuring our city is kept clean.

The session entitled ‘Waste & Our Generation’ focuses on educating young people about local waste management efforts and raising their awareness about steps and measures that should be taken to care for Mother Earth.

The Empowerment Series are a series of informal talks/sessions seeking to empower our young people with knowledge and awareness about relevant social problems and issues faced by our community today.

Students will also be taught about waste segregation; where they learn to identify and separate the types of waste produced in addition to measuring the amounts of different wastes generated.

Besides that, a representative from the Natural Resource and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak will also be sharing about the effects of landfills and leachate on our immediate environment and how it affects our daily lives; elaborating more about the origins of leachate and its effects on the environment.

The Empowerment Series is organised by The Champions and Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS), in collaboration with the Sarawak Development Institute (SDI), Trienekens, the Natural Resource and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak and AIESEC Kuching.
