Welcoming new students to SMK Muara Tuang
SMK Muara Tuang welcomed 202 new Lower Six students for the 2016/2017 session!
In conjunction with the enrollment of new students, the Welcoming Form Six Week (MAP- Minggu Alu-aluan Pelajar Tingkatan 6 Bawah) programme was organised by the PreUniversiti Student Representative Council from May 4th till 14th.
Besides welcoming the students who had been offered to pursue their education in Form Six at SMK Muara Tuang, the programme was held to educate the students on the benefits of Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM).
According to Deputy Head Teacher Masyziyati Mamat, Form Six students who fulfilled the necessary requirements and applied for the Preparatory University Class Scholarship (BKPU-Biasiswa Kelas Persediaan Universiti) sponsored by the Malaysian Education Ministry were entitled for RM90 and RM110 a month for art and science streams respectively.
Among the activities organised throughout MAP week included motivational programmes, career and education talks, curriculum briefing as well as recreation activities.
However, the highlight of the programme was the exhibition of the students’ creative works that was made throughout the learning session in the first and second term year 2015/2016.
Among those present for the ceremony was Assistant Director of Form Six Management Unit Sandra Thomas of Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Sarawak, the school supervisor Basil Clement Andrew, Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) Yang Dipertuan SMK Muara Tuang Nawi Som.
In his speech, Basil hopes that the students would excel in any fields of their choosing including self development and becoming role models to other students as well.
