KUCHING: Nur Haziah Mazalan reigned supreme after beating 12 other finalists for the Miss Metrojaya Cultural Harvest Festival (CHF) 2016 subsidiary title at CityOne Megamall on April 9.

The 22-year-old from Kuching went home with a cash prize of RM700. She also received a sash and a bouquet of flowers.

Other finalists were 19-year-old Haziqah Hamdan, Stephanie Elizabeth (22), Morgan Christincey (24), Kedung Ballang (21), Tangerine Malison (19), Catherine Luweny (22), Trisdewi Trisno (24), Priscilla Christopher (23), Nur Ashima Affendi (23), Darline Barie (23), Emily Sara (19), and Amanda Jane (22).

The 13 finalists walked the parade in clothes sponsored by Metrojaya’s brands including East India Company, Zona, Passages, Emanuelle, Laura Ashley, Sommerset Bay and Cape Cod.

They were judged on their personality, catwalk and stage performance by Miss Earth Hour CityOne 2015 and Miss Global International Sarawak (MGIS) second runner-up Ellna Jiway, Metrojaya executive officer Yahya Semali, and Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) executive officer Arnida Sarkawi Ramli.

The inaugural subsidiary title was brought by Metrojaya and CityOne Megamall in collaboration with the Sarawak Cultural Village. Other subsidiary titles for Miss Cultural Harvest Festival 2016 include Miss Fitness, Miss Beautiful Eyesight, Miss Photogenic, Miss Talent, Miss Dzarea, and Miss Dazzling Smile.

Miss Cultural Harvest Festival 2016 is organised by the Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) as one of the programmes for the World Harvest Festival 2016 with the support from the Ministry of Tourism Sarawak (MoT) and Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC).

This year, the World Harvest Festival will be held at SCV from April 29 to May 1.

Among the highlights of the 3-day, 3-night festival include Grand Final of Miss Cultural Harvest Festival (May 1), live staging of ‘Dayang Bulan – The Moon Princess’ adapted from the Kelabit legendary, the final competition of Ironman WHF 2016, Sarawak Kitchen Food Festival, and Sape Concert.

It is the perfect festival for those wanting to savour traditional music, dance, actions and cuisine.

Early bird tickets for the festival are sold at RM30 per person, before April 29.
