Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia is ranked among the world’s top 100 universities under the age of 50 by the Times Higher Education and listed among the top three per cent of universities worldwide by the Academic Ranking of World Universities.
Its only international campus, Swinburne Sarawak, makes the same high quality education affordably available here in Kuching. Many of the courses offered by its home campus in Melbourne may be pursued locally.
At the completion of your studies, you are awarded the same internationally recognised parchment by the university in Australia.
Its foundation, bachelor, master and PhD programs are tailored to suit the interests and career aspirations of students. Its one-year foundation studies, for example, lead to a host of degree programs at the university.
Students have the chance to experience depth of learning in their chosen discipline and the breadth of complementary study options. Most three-year degrees require undertaking a professional major with either a co-major or two minors. Co-majors and minors may be different from the discipline of the major so that they may add breadth to their major. This enables them to have an appreciation of other disciplines that will enhance and complement their employment and further education prospects.
Alternatively, the co-major and minors provide further in-depth study to those students who wish to specialise and obtain additional discipline-based skills and knowledge that employers seek.
As a Swinburne degree is recognised globally, Swinburne Sarawak is an attractive option especially as the cost is lower when compared to pursuing higher education abroad. The tuition fee is at a fraction of the cost involved in studying in another country.
Furthermore, the SETARA Tier 5: Excellent Status-rated university is also more affordable due to the lower cost of living in Kuching.
With about 4,000 students from over 60 countries, the campus is vibrant, diverse and colourful. This, combined with the highly experienced teaching staff from many parts of the world, gives Swinburne Sarawak an international atmosphere.
As Swinburne Sarawak is a university of technology you’ll have access to highly advanced facilities. Its lecture theatre, for example, is equipped with the latest audio-visual technology. A library accommodates more than 750 and offers learning resources and services to support your learning and research projects.
Engineering, research and science labs as well as tutorial rooms are lined with cutting edge equipment while computer laboratories boast the latest desktop PCs and multimedia applications. State-of-the-art facilities allow students to create professional video productions.
The multicultural diversity on campus is in itself a rich learning experience and creates a broader outlook among students and staff.
