Satisfy your inner bookworm at Popular Mega Bookfair
The POPULAR Mega Bookfair is back again at CityONE Exhibition Centre from December 18th till 27th
The highly anticipated Popular Mega Bookfair is back again and is held at CityONE Megamall, Kuching from December 18th till 27th 2015.
During this Christmas cheer, a charity campaign “Christmas Gift Bank” is initiated in conjunction with the Mega Bookfair.
“In celebration of this Christmas season of cheer, for the first time, we introduce our CSR project, the ‘Christmas Gift Bank’ Charity Campaign, to encourage public to support for gift donations to the underprivileged children,” said Special Project senior manager Helen Goh in her speech on December 18th during a press tour at CityONE Exhibition Centre.
“The public is encouraged to purchase gifts worth at least RM15 from the POPULAR outlets in Kuching and POPULAR Mega Bookfair and will get a free gift-wrapping service and a RM10 promotion voucher for every gift donated,” she added.
According to Helen, the donation will be sent to selected orphanages and homes such as Salvation Army Children’s Home, Salvation Army Boy’s Home and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Negeri Sarawak (PKANYS) on Christmas day.
Malaysia Food Ambassador and Celebrity Chef, Datuk Chef Wan will also be making an appearance for a special cooking demonstration on December 19th at 5 pm during the book fair.
And on December 25th, the “Jelajah Chef Popular” session will see winner of Celebrity Chef Berita Harian Chef Fazalina, No. 1 Bestselling Cookbook author in Malaysia Chef Hanieliza and co-host of “Bake & Sell” reality show Chef Norzailina conducting a cooking demonstration from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Overseas and local authors will also be sharing their works during the Mega Bookfair.
Among those making appearance are ‘Once Upon A Miao’ author, Jian Goh on December 20th; while travel photojournalist Chok Yen Hau will be sharing with the audience on ‘Solo Travelling in Malaysia; on December 25th at 11 am. A sharing session on ‘How Branding Can Actually Be Very Economical’ will be held by branding expert Roger Kerk on December 20th at 6 pm.
Aside from English author, POPULAR has also invited two Taiwanese authors: health guru Xu Hui Yin, Taiwan Renowned Illustrators, Wan Wan and local authors such as Chen Hui Jun and Xiao Luo.
Other fun activities lining for children are the “Discovery & Learn Workshop” which include a robotics workshop, art and crafts workshop from 12 pm to 5 pm.
The ‘Hutan Persona’ Malay Language Storytelling Competition is open for children age seven to 12 years old on December 22nd and 23rd where winners get to walk away with prizes with a total of RM1,600 sponsored by Kenny Rogers.
Aside from that, “The Joy of Reading” Colouring Competition is also opened for children between five to 12 years old on December 24th with participants stand a chance to walk away with prizes up to total worth of RM4,000 sponsored by Faber-Castell.
With a wide array of English, Malay and Chinese books of various genres, along with stationary, multimedia products, music CDs and gift items, visitors who spend RM100 nett or above in a single receipt on the same day are entitled to free vouchers worth a total of RM20 and those spending with RHB Bank credit or debit card will receive additional RM5 POPULAR gift voucher.
Aside from that, visitors may also apply or renew POPULAR Card at the Mega Bookfair and be rewarded with exclusive free gifts.
Also present were children from the Salvation Army Children’s Home, Salvation Army Boy’s Home and PKANYS for a tour of the book fair.
