Biodiversity expedition to assess Santubong’s ecotourism potential

KUCHING: SARAWAK FORESTRY Corporation (SFC) is pleased to announce that Biodiversity Expedition 2015 will be held at Santubong National Park from Nov 6  to 13, 2015.

The expedition, to be jointly-organised by SFC and the Department of Zoology, Faculty of Resource Science and Technology of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) would be the first large-scale expedition involving various biodiversity assessments at the national park.

An estimated 115 researchers and research assistants from SFC and UNIMAS will conduct studies on mammals, birds, herpetofauna, fish and insects during the 8-day expedition.

Biodiversity Expedition 2015 organised with the aim to assess the potentials of Santubong National Park as an ecotourism destination as well as to further enhance conservation of the Santubong Peninsular is supported by Sarawak Timber Association, Permai Rainforest Resort and Forest Department Sarawak.
