State-level Women’s Day 2015 to celebrate women in the arts

With the theme ‘Sarawak Women in The Arts’, Women, Welfare and Family Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah announced that the state-level Women’s Day 2015 is set to be celebrated on October 17th.

The annual event is held to recognise and appreciate women’s contributions and involvement in the development of country, especially in Sarawak.

Several awards will also be given out to those who helped shaped the development of women in the state. In honour of the occasion, special Award ‘Sarawak Women in The Arts’ will  be given out along with the Datuk Patinggi Laila Taib Award, Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneur Award, Chief Minister’s Social Activist Award, Chief Minister Women Leadership Award and Excellence Women Association Award.

Among the event’s highlights are ‘Sarawak Women in The Arts’ showcase, celebrations across all 40 district administrations coordinated and chaired by their respective district officers, as well as the launching of the book ‘Sarawak In The Arts’.

Other highlighted activities lined up for the celebration are the Let’s Get Together programme with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development on October 5th, the state-level Women’s Day celebration on October 17th and the Walk of Love 2015 (WOL15) – Saya Sayang Sarawak Carnival on November 14th.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem and Datin Patinggi Dato Jamilah Anu are expected to attend the event.

About 6,000 guests from government departments, agencies, corporate and private sectors, women society registered under Sarawak Women’s and Family Department (JWKS), IPTA and IPTS are expected to attend the event to be held at BCCK.
