IEM Engineer’s Run postponed to October 11

KUCHING: The IEM Engineer’s Run 2015 in Kuching has been postponed to October 11 (Sunday) due to the deteriorating air quality and hazy condition in the city.

The event, organised by the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak Branch in conjunction with IEM Engineer’s Week to promote engineering as well as a healthy lifestyle, was originally scheduled for September 13.

However, concerns over participants’ health and safety in the wake of the worsening haze has led to the organising committee to postpone the event to the aforementioned date.

The venue of the event shall remain unchanged at MBKS Kuching, although the flag off times for 10km and 5km categories have been rescheduled to 6.00 a.m. and 6.30 a.m. respectively.

This shall be followed by the prize giving ceremony and lucky draw upon the conclusion of the runs.

In the event that the participant is unable to turn up for the event, they may consider transferring the existing registration to another interested participant or collect their finisher’s medal with the bib directly from IEM office after October 11.

When transferring registration to the Engineer’s 10km categories however, the new participant has to be registered at IEM office and produce proof of their status as an engineer.

The IEM organising committee would also like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconveniences caused and thank all parties involved for their kind support and understanding over the matter.
