The biggest social media-based festival in Borneo is around the corner with HashtagLive Kuching (#LIVEKCH) 2015 to be held this September 12 and 13.
According to Sarawak Bloggers Society founder Cyril Dason Kerine, #LIVEKCH intends to bring those hashtags social media users always use on their social media posts, to life. through the social media festival to take place at CityONE Megamall Exhibition Centre from 10am onwards.
“We will give social media users the opportunity to use their social medias to do activities such as sharing positive stuff, searching for the King and Queen of #LIVEKCH, and other interesting activities such as sharing on actual walls that we will put up during the event for visitors to paste and share their actual photos,” he said adding that the usage of Twitter in Kuching is a bit low and hopes that this event can also encourage the use of Twitter.
“Apart from that, we are also bringing in local talents and providing them a platform to introduce themselves to the community and enable them to move further in the industry,” he said during a press conference held at CityONE Megamall on September 9.
Among the talented performers to liven up the event are up-and-coming Sarawakian YouTube artistes including Azwan Juperi, Ashrun Zikri, Dzul Izzat, Joyce Khoo, Eric Goh, Sasha Ningkan, as well as popular YouTube star Nana Sheme.
“Another thing we would like to highlight is the social media area. In this area, we will highlight three particular social medias: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.”
To enhance #LIVEKCH, there will also be an eGames area where the Sarawak inter-varsity DoTA2 competition will be held, pitting the best e-Games teams in Kuching against each other for bragging rights and a chance at RM1000 cash prize.
Aside from that, the #LiveMarket will also highlight over 20 online blog or social media shops to the general public.
“It is hoped that #LIVEKCH will also be used as a platform to educate the public and social media users about volunteerism and social media issues and bring up the awareness on the importance of sharing positive stuffs online,” he added, hoping that #LIVEKCH would be an event where people of various backgrounds could come together to enjoy what they had in common and celebrate unity and diversity without prejudice.
