THE PADAWAN MUNICIPAL COUNCIL (MPP) received a financial boost when Natural Avenue Sdn Bhd (Special Cash Sweep) presented its annual contribution of RM10,000 during a press conference held at its headquarters in Kota Padawan yesterday.

Special Cash Sweep general manager Jackson Lim said the money will be used to help the council in organising Padawan Fest 2015.

“This is the 12th year that our company has contributed to the event. We work hand in hand with the council in activities that we can assist on a yearly basis. I believe that we need to work hand in hand, and we will continue to support them,” he said.

Meanwhile, MPP chairman Councilor Ir Lo Khere Chiang said that this year, there are six events under Padawan Fest 2015 which include the Padawan Raft Safari, Liga Jemputan MPP (football competition), Borneo Highlands Resort Padawan Nature Challenge, Pesta Telaga Air MPP, Sejijak Regatta, and the Padawan Fair.

They will be ongoing events held at designated venues from May 15 to November 29. Lo added that the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia is also supporting the events.

“The tourism industry brings in huge segment of income in Sarawak and we are proud to organise the Padawan Fest because of its ability to attract thousands of visitors and at the same time promoting our rich natural heritage here in Padawan,” he said adding that all the activities organised during the previous years were very successful.

He also added that Special Cash Sweep will soon be organising one event from festival.

“They will have the chance to choose any one event from the festival to be solely organised and sponsored by them. I believe from there, they can help to make the event better in future,” he added.

Also attending the press conference were Special Cash Sweep senior manager, admin and personnel Lincoln Leong, Special Cash Sweep senior manager, agency and betting operations Ho Ek Hock, and MPP deputy chairman Dr Zaiedi Suhaili.
