STAR CINEPLEX PREMIERED A new Iban film directed and scripted by Syed Mohamed Benyahya called ‘Sada Pengerindu’ on June 20.
It is the film debut of Grand Spectrum Sdn Bhd featuring fresh local talents including Vincent Mallang and Catherina Nuwi Bili as the main leads.
According to film producer Juliet Tan, ‘Sada Pengerindu’ tells the story of a local university student who is constantly faced with many challenges in life, friendship and love.
“This is a good platform for these new talents to pursue their interest and talent in acting, besides promoting them at the same time,” she added.
The shooting for ‘Sada Pengerindu’ started in November 2013 and took them approximately 15 days to complete the 83-minute movie.
“The film was shot in Kuching city and in several locations in Lundu,” she added.
‘Sada Pengerindu’ was screened in all Star Cineplexes in Sarawak from June 25.
“We need support from local people for our local movie. And since this is our first trial of Iban movie, hopefully our local product will be able to stand along with the other big names in the movie industry in Malaysia,” she said.
Juliet added that they are considering making a DVD version of the film in the near future.
“As for our future projects, we will also be producing new movies called ‘Tunjang Pengidup’ which is more into musical drama, and also ‘Cinta Mee Kolok’ in Bidayuh version soon,” she added.
