Think you’re Kumang quality?

SINGLE DAYAK LADIES AGED 18 to 25 are invited to take part in the Kumang Gawai Dayak Competition 2015 to be held next month.
Organised by Samarahan District Council in collaboration with The Summer Shopping Mall, the preliminary or semi-final round will be held on June 6 from 3pm onwards.
According to the organising committee member Bolhassan Mohammad, ten finalists will be chosen from the semi-final round and will compete at the grand final on June 12 at 7.30pm.
“The Kumang competition is organised in conjunction with the Gawai festival. Both semi-final and final round will be held at The Summer Shopping Mall,” he said.
The participants must have their own outfits, makeup, and be responsible for their own food and drink and transportation throughout the competition.
“During the semi-final round, participants need to wear baju kebaya. Meanwhile, for the final competition they are required to wear the Iban traditional costume,” Bolhassan added.
The finalists will be judged based on their beauty, poise and personality, costumes as well as their communication skills.
“The winner will receive a cash prize of RM700. Meanwhile, first and second runner-up will receive RM500 and RM300, respectively. All top three winners will also receive a trophy and a sash.
“Consolation prizes of RM100 each await seven other finalists. All finalists will also receive certificate of participation,” he added.
Those interested to join in the competition must send their entries by June 5 at 5pm at the latest.
The entry fee is RM50 and must be submitted along with the official entry form which can be obtained from The Summer Shopping Mall and the Samarahan District Council.
