Three babies adopted by Malaysian Red Crescent to celebrate founder’s birthday

THREE BABIES BORN AT Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on May 8 were adopted by the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Kuching branch in conjunction with World Red Cross Red Crescent Day which is celebrated annually on May 8.
The adoption programme has become an annual tradition of the Kuching branch and is significant to MRC Kuching as a way to observe World Red Cross Day which is celebrated around the world in memory of the movement’s founder Henri Jean Dunant and his global humanitarian efforts
This is the 23rd year MRC Kuching has carried out the programme with the cooperation of SGH.
During the adoption programme, Datin Heriah Abdul Manan, wife of MRC Kuching Chapter advisor Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Abang Haji Openg gave hampers to the mothers of the three babies.
The mothers were Martha Meredith Juen (29), Norsiah Mohd Sidek (28), and Malini Onge (32). Both Meredith and Norsiah gave birth to boys, while Malini a girl.
Also present were MRC Kuching Chapter’s honorary secretary Ng Liang Yew who is also the chairman of World Red Cross Red Crescent Day Celebration, and the officer-in-charge of Youth Andrew Ang.
