Running for a number of charitable causes

Rakan Bestnye Sarawak welcomes members of the public to join its inaugural Watercarpark Run 2015 charity run this coming October 11.

Besides promoting a healthy lifestyle, organising chairman Stella Rina said the charity run aimed to create public awareness of the charitable bodies available for the community to help and make their contribution to in terms of not only money but also their time.

“Participants and members of the public can personally donate any amount of cash, goods, books, clothes, canned foods to any charitable bodies available during the event. They can donate to more than one charity of their own accord,” Stella said during a press conference held at Sarawak Plaza Shopping Complex on May 7.

Themed ‘We Will Make You Sweat’, the run will start and end at the Square Tower at the Kuching Waterfront.

The run is divided into two categories: ‘Challenging or Professional Run’, and ‘Casual Fun Run’. Participants for both categories are required to gather at the Kuching Waterfront’s square tower from 6.30am onwards.

The registration fee for the challenging or professional category is RM50 per person, and RM35 for the casual fun run.

Those taking part in the challenging or professional run will have to run three rounds along a designated route covering a distance of 8.7 km. The winner in this category will win a cash prize of RM800.

Meanwhile, participants for the casual fun run, will only have to complete one round covering a total distance of 2.9 km.

All participants will receive medals, goodies bags, and certificate of participation.

“There will also be a surprise for participants – every one of them will get wet during the competition,” Stella added.

Prior to the run, there will also be an exhibition from local entrepreneurs starting from Oct 9 to 11, selling a variety of local foods and products. Apart from that, many other exciting activities also include mini sports competition, busking and music performances, yoyo performances and workshops, and many more.

To register, Watercarpark Run forms can be obtained at the Sarawak Plaza Shopping Complex, Riverside Shopping Mall, Kubah Ria, Waterfront Office management, and UTC.

    Hi, refer to this statement “There will also be a surprise for participants – every one of them will get wet during the competition,” Stella added.
    It is not recommended If you spray water to the participants, they will get sick loh… especially we are sweating…
    Please clarify.
