Aid needed for quake-hit Nepal
The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) dispatched a six-member team of medical personnel and Regional Disaster Response Team (RDRT) earlier this week to assist Nepal Red Cross in response to the critical situation in medical care, assessment and relief work.
Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies worldwide are rushing into Nepal with emergency humanitarian assistance following the devastating earthquake on April 25.
According to MRC’s press release on April 29, survivors of the Nepal earthquake need support including food, water, medical and health care and emergency shelters.
“The more donations the Red Cross and Red Crescent receives, the more they will be able to assist in Nepal in the months and possibly years to come. The Nepal Red Cross Society and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) are working to reunite families separated by the earthquake in Nepal.”
Nepalese citizens residing in Malaysia can also approach MRC for assistance in Restoring Family Link (RFL) if they have not being able to maintain contact with family members since after the earthquake.
To learn more, visit the Nepal Earthquake Restoring Family Links page on the ICRC web site.
All donations for this relief appeal, which will be acknowledged with the MRC official receipts, can be channelled to ‘Malaysian Red Crescent Society’.
Cheques, money orders or postal orders made out in the said name are to be forwarded to Malaysian Red Crescent, Jalan P Ramlee, 93400 Kuching.
Donations can also be credited into Malaysian Red Crescent MayBank Bhd account number 511195113769.
