MGIS fashion showcase awards subsidiary title winners
DRESSED IN FASHION COLLECTIONS by Metrojaya and Anna Sue Jewellery, the Top 20 finalists of Miss Global International Sarawak (MGIS) 2015 worked the runway during the press conference cum fashion showcase held at CityONE Megamall Kuching on March 28.
“I wish to congratulate MGIS state director Nicky Everett for bringing this auspicious event here and I hope for the best to all the finalists who will represent the state at the international level competition and make Sarawakian proud,” said political secretary to the Chief Minister Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali in her officiating speech.
“As we all know Miss Global International is the third largest beauty pageant in the world behind Miss Universe and Miss World. Sarawakian beauties are very lucky that they can now become a part of this.”
Several subsidiary titles were handed out during the event including ‘Best in Catwalk’ to Valerina Aren Alfred, ‘Best in Fashion’ to Wendy Ling Lia Jing, and ‘Miss Earth Hour’ to Ellna Jiway.
Meanwhile, Ezza Hunny, Claudia Gan, and Genevieve Gerald Wilson Unting won third, second and first place for the ‘Miss Public Popular’ category.
Nickson Simbor, otherwise known as Nicky Everett, said that this competition aimed to highlight Sarawakian beauties on the world stage like Dewi Liana Seriestha who won the Miss Talent subsidiary title in the Miss World 2014 pageant.
“I hope this competition will also gain more encouraging response and support from people in Sarawak and contribute to producing such incredible beauty and talent like Dewi,” he said.
Other finalists were Stepheni Johari, Emerald Sie Rou Xiu, Marzella Sigai, Decharmene Gibson, Shayndee Dunstan, Paula Nanie Entia Nating, Pauline Nanie Mula Nating, Phrisillia Mujan Peter, Raden Atul, Anny Wong Wei Wei, Martina Litad Balang, Ainaa L. Tacia, Cammielye Oliver Rega and Christina Dana Paulus Ripos.
Out of the 25 finalists selected after the second audition held on March 21, four finalists quit the competition while another was eliminated for not complying with competition rules.
They will be competing for the ‘Miss Global International Sarawak’ title at the Grand Final which will be held on May 21 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), themed ‘Unity and Culture’.

Tickets are priced from RM1,000 to RM3,000 per table, or RM100 per seat. There are also theatre seats available, priced at RM40 with no food provided.
