Empowerment series on financial management
More and more young Malaysians are declaring bankruptcy every year. Whether it is from defaulting installments from housing, personal and car loans to failing to resolve credit-debts, poor financial planning and spending beyond their means are often the main causes of financial setbacks. Therefore, every individual, young or old, should be financially literate in order to spend wisely and stay debt-free.
The 7th Empowerment Series (ES) organised by Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS), Sarawak Development Institute (SDI) and The Champions will be focusing on financial management where participants would have an opportunity to learn to control and manage their finances. The session will focus on managing one’s cash flow and savings, featuring a “step by step approach” on how to track one’s income and expenses, how to plan a budget, saving for emergencies and the future.
Founder of PurpleLily Ginette Collin will be conducting the session, which is considered a special project as her organisation normally caters exclusively to women.
PurpleLily is a local organisation committed to “inspiring and empowering women to thrive and shine” through the various training programmes they provide. She has a background in education, corporate training and starting up and managing small businesses. She is also an expert on mental toughness and life skills training.
The session will be held this Saturday, 28 March 2015, 2:30pm – 5:30pm, at Hall C, Sarawak Tourism Complex (Old Courthouse), Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg and open to all young adults (18-30 years old). Admission is free.
The aim of the Empowerment Series is to create a platform for sharing knowledge and to provide information on current issues and interests through interactive discussions with various experts/specialists in fields such as financial management, unity and social harmony, waste culture, morals and integrity, community bonding through individual passions, etc.
For those who are interested to attend the session, please contact the secretariat at 082-415484/416484/016-8462688 for registration details or just drop by this Saturday (March 28) afternoon.
