The one year (2-semester) programme not only allows them to start their university experience sooner, but also provides a solid foundation to adapt to undergraduate studies more confidently.

In addition, the university is now offering entrance scholarships for SPM high achievers enrolling in either its foundation Commerce & Arts Stream or Engineering & Science Stream courses.

Both courses, which are aimed at developing academic diligence, critical analysis, and a raft of generic skills, are offered under the Faculty of Business and Humanities and Faculty of Engineering and Science respectively.

The Foundation Studies – Commerce & Arts Stream course prepares students for undergraduate study in arts, commerce and social sciences, while the Engineering & Science Stream course prepares students for undergraduate study in engineering and science, computing and information technology.

The intake for its first semester this year is still in progress and qualified students are encouraged to apply immediately. Classes for the foundation courses commence on 30 March.

Those interested can find out more about the courses at, or contact Marketing Officer Regine Toh at 019-855 0839 or email [email protected]

SPM leavers in Miri can also find out more at the university’s Curtin Application Day events on campus and at the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry from 2 pm to 5 pm on 13 and 20 March, and from 9 am to 12.30 pm on 14 and 21 March.

They are advised to bring along their results for assessment and application purposes, and they will be counselled on the courses and fees, as well as facilities and services offered by the university.

Curtin Sarawak is the largest international campus of Curtin University, one of Australia’s largest and most multicultural universities with a strong commitment to international engagement. Curtin is rated five-stars overall in the annual QS Stars university ratings for 2015 based on its performance across eight assessed categories. Five stars were awarded for teaching, employability, internationalisation, facilities, innovation, access and education, and three stars were awarded for research.

“As our courses are identical to those offered by our main campus, this reflects well on our quality of teaching and learning, research, student experience and graduate employability as well,” said Curtin Sarawak’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Jim Mienczakowski.

He added that having identical course structures also allows Curtin Sarawak students to transfer between Curtin’s campuses and ultimately be better prepared to enter the global workforce.
