Short film competition challenge for Sarawak youths
KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) and Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) have challenged the local youth to help promote Sarawak’s uniqueness and beauty to the global community, via a short film competition.
The AIFFA 2015-AZAM short film competition is being organised, in conjunction with AIFFA 2015 which Sarawak will host from April 9 to 11 this year in Kuching.
The organiser’s spokesman, Kerry Edison said the competition was open to Sarawak youths aged between 18 and 30, to submit entries showcasing the best that Sarawak could offer in terms of culture, events, nature, business, the arts
and other unique qualities for a global audience.
She said each entry should last three to five minutes (including film credits) and capture the diversity and beauty of all things Sarawak to lure visitors to the state.
“All categories and genres of short film (duration three to five minutes) are accepted, including drama, comedy, animation, sci-fi, documentary, experimental and music videos,” she added.
The first prize is RM2,000, while second and third prize winners will bag RM1,500 and RM1,000, respectively, besides the AIFFA short film trophy with additional prizes in kind, said Edison.
All participants will be given passes to attend seminar/workshop session featuring international iconic/established film industry professionals during the AIFFA 2015 event.
The competition closes on March 26, and winners will be announced in April.
Meanwhile, the organisers are inviting those aged 18 and above to volunteer for the AIFFA 2015 event.-Bernama
