Watch top shuttlers in action Jan 13-18
Badminton enthusiasts can look forward to watching world-class badminton players in action at the upcoming Yonex Sunrise Malaysia Masters 2015 to be held from Jan 13-18 at the State Indoor Stadium in Petra Jaya.
Hosted by Sarawak Badminton Association (SBA), the tournament will see top shuttlers including world number 4, Srikanh Kidambi who was last year’s champion in China Open Super Series; Malaysia’s national reigning champion Zulfadli Zulkifli; last year’s Maybank Malaysia Kuching International Challenge champion Lee Hyun II from South Korea, as well as top players from Indonesia Simon Santoso and Sonny Dwi Kunchoro.
Malaysian players are expected to arrive in Kuching this Sunday, Jan 11 for practice sessions to be held at the stadium as well as the SBA hall located next to Four Points Hotel Kuching. Three Danish players are also expected to come the same day for practice sessions.
“I would also like to mention that I have got confirmation from Badminton Association Malaysia that Datuk Lee Chong Wei will also be attending the tournament to give support to his teammates,” said SBA Honorary Secretary Abdul Hadi Datuk Abdul Kadir. Lee is expected to arrive in Kuching on Jan 15 and may remain for the finals on Jan 18.
Lea Sports Centre (LSC) was announced as the official ticketing partner and will be selling tickets throughout the duration of the tournament from January 13 to 18 online at sba.tiketpanas.com.my and at designated LSC outlets.
Meanwhile, managing director of LEA Group of Companies Raymond Sim said they are delighted to work closely with SBA because this will augur well for the development and promotion of badminton in Sarawak.
Tickets will be on sale from January 10 at LSC Wisma Hopoh, City One, the Hills, Sarawak Plaza and Kuching Sentral in Kuching; LSC Bintang Megamall in Miri; LSC Wisma Sanyan in Sibu; and LSC Parkcity Mall in Bintulu.
Students can watch the matches for free on the first two days of the competition.
Prices of tickets are as follows: Preliminary (Jan 13 – 15, 9am – 9pm) are RM10 each; quarterfinals (Jan 16, 3pm – 8pm) are RM15 each; semi-finals (Jan 17, 2pm – 7pm) are RM20 each; and finals (Jan 18, 2pm – 7pm) are RM30. There will also be season tickets sold (free seating) which is priced at RM60 each.
There will also be a live telecast of the quarter-final matches onward from Jan 16-18 on RTM and Astro.
