Part of their fund-raising included car wash services, charity photo booth, and other activities. Participated by both fourth semester and final year students, funds went towards grocery items such as rice, sugar and so forth as well as some cash contribution to assist the orphanage home.
The team is highly motivated by their objectives to support and to assist those in need, to foster community engagement among the children and students involved and to create a responsible, concerned and caring society equipped with ethical awareness of the future generation.
They held activities for the 40 orphans and poor children upon their arrival at the orphanage. Divided into 10 teams, the children were then guided by 10 UiTM students as their facilitators carried out the activities.
The list of activities and their respective objectives included logo design and cheering to foster creativity and boost confidence, perjanjian ‘Aku Janji’ to help the children have a clear pathway and vision of their futures, musical chairs to boost confidence and ability to interact with each other and an origami competition to enrich innovative thinking among the children.
The visit ended with a prize-giving ceremony for the overall winners of the activities, followed by a closing speech by headmaster Rahmat Lokman.
Throughout the visit, the charity team obtained valuable exposure in managing and organising a community service program, allowing the team to have a better understanding about their role in helping the needy, compounding the importance of the slogan: “Together, nothing is impossible”.
