Boulevard’s inaugural bodybuilding contest crowns Jeremiah ‘Champion of Champions’

MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST Jeremiah Rukong, 34,was crowned ‘Champion of Champions’ at the recent inaugural bodybuilding competition Mr Boulevard Kuching. He also won the Senior 70 kg and above category and received RM500 and a trophy.

“A healthy life not only depends on a healthy diet, but also depends a lot on a healthy lifestyle,” said president of Sarawak Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) Datuk Wee Hong Seng during his official speech at the competition held at The Boulevard Shopping Mall.

“As we gradually move on with good habits of exercise, taking healthy food with good lifestyles, we will really experience positive changes in ourselves bringing a more meaningful life, and for any sports championship like bodybuilding, health is always second to none.” Wee added.

In conjunction with Boulevard’s Health Month, Boulevard Shopping Mall held the inaugural Mr Boulevard Kuching which was held at the mall’s Atrium last Saturday.
A total of 29 beginners, amateurs, and veterans bodybuilders had participated in the bodybuilding competition that were divided into four categories namely Mr Fitness (170cm and below), Mr Fitness (170cm and above), Senior (70kg and below), and Senior (70kg and above).

The participants were judged based on the overall quality of their muscle development in several parts of their bodies including chest, back, biceps, legs and abdominal, as well as their stage presence.

Louis Grass won the Mr Fitness (170cm and below) defeating first-runner up Mohd Iskandar Razali and second runner-up Mohammad Azhar Aizam and each received a trophy and cash prize of RM400, RM300, and RM200 respectively.

For the second category, Mr Fitness (170cm above), Mohd Al-Azrin Abdul Ghani had emerged as the champion winning over first runner-up Alvin Sia Loong Wei and second runner-up Sivanesvaran, and each of them received a trophy and cash prize of RM 400, RM300 and RM200 respectively.

Third category, Senior 70kg and below, saw Wilfred Harding defeating first-runner up Louis Grass and second-runner up Anthony Cadrick and each received a trophy and cash prize of RM500, RM400, and RM300 respectively.

First runner-up for the Senior 70kg and above category was won by Donny Fam who received RM400 and a trophy, while the second runner-up went to Mohd Sani Sanawi who received RM300 and a trophy.

All entrants also received a certificate of participation each.

Earlier in his speech, Wee mentioned that, “This year has been a very good year for Sarawak bodybuilders as our bodybuilders had won, for the first time, the overall title at the Mr Malaysia Bodybuilding Championship which was held in June.”

Apart from that, Sarawak also received honors for taking the Champion of Champions crown and the Best Poser award through state renowned bodybuilder Malvern Abdullah, who has also been selected to represent Malaysia at the Mr Asia Bodybuilding Championship to be held in Macau end of August.

Wee also congratulate the organising committee for Mr Boulevard Kuching 2014 for successfully organising the auspicious event and hoped that such competitions will continue to be held in Sarawak to promote the sport and help in scouting more potential athletes to represent Sarawak in Sukma next year or even the world championship.

The competition was organised by Boulevard Shopping Mall and co-organised by Sarawak Body Building Association (SBBA) and sponsored by Borneo Bodybuilding Supplement (BBS).
