STB fetes media, announces 7.5% growth in business arrivals
During a ‘Majlis Berbuka Puasa’ dinner appreciation between Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) staff and members of the media on July 17, chief executive officer of STB Dato’ Rashid Khan was delighted to announce that STB had managed to achieve 7.5% growth in terms of business arrivals to Sarawak from January to April.
“Our target was 7%, but we registered 7.5% despite the problems we have seen in the tourist source market,” he said.
He also added that the STB are still tallying the numbers since the statistics obtained only comes up to April.
“We still don’t know what May looks like because sometimes the effect would come later and we are doing all we can to ensure that we mitigate some of these problems,” he said in reference to the MH370 tragedy which occurred earlier this year, adding that they will be looking at the regional market to improve visitor arrival to Sarawak.
During the media appreciation night organised as part of the STB’s appreciation to the media, Dato’ Rashid Khan took the chance to wish ‘Selamat Hari Raya’ to all Malaysians.
