A day for fruit-lovers

KUCHING: If you’re a lover of fruit or going on a health kick, the Jom Berambeh Pesta Buah-Buahan programme at Padang Merdeka, Kuching was held last Sunday Dec 15 to promote local fruits and to encourage the practice of eating local fruits among locals.

A total of 17 types of fruits were available which includes the durian, langsat, guava, jackfruit, rambutan and coconut. Other activities held during the festival include fruit-eating competition, fruit-weighting quizzes, as well as sales of fruits and agricultural products for the visitors of the festival.

 

The programme was implemented in conjunction with the 2013 Civil Service Day organised by the Kuching City North Commission (DBKU) and Kuching City South Council (MBKS).

 

The festival was officiated by the State Secretary, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani.

 

Also present at the festival was State Federal Secretary Datuk Yahaya Basimin, DBKU mayor Datuk Haji Abang Haji Abdul Wahap Abang Julai and MBKS mayor Dato James Chan.
