Unimas’ annual engineering week bigger and better

KUCHING: The students of University Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Faculty of Engineering have successfully organised this year’s Engineering Week 2013.
Held annually since 2010, this year’s programme running from Dec 4-7 at the Faculty of Engineering building was planned and designed with more attractive exhibits expected to give a comprehensive overview of current technology in line with the theme ‘Engineering Beyond Technology’.
The four-day programme was launched yesterday by Dr Hushairi Zen, Deputy Dean of Postgraduate and Research, Faculty of Engineering in conjunction with the Faculty of Engineering’s 20th anniversary.
According to the programme director, Muhammad Faizal Hafiz Shamsi, among the activities held during Engineering Week 2013 are theHonda Hybrid Car Autoshow, RC Flying Exhibition and Workshop, Women Engineers Session and Premier Forum.
He added that this programme was geared towards achieving Unimas’ primary objective of producing engineers who were balanced in terms of spiritual and intellectual development as well as enhancing creativity and innovative-thinking among students of the Faculty of Engineering.
Dr Hushairi also expressed his delight in the students from the Engineering faculty for their growing and positive development in event management because it showed that the students had tremendous capability in organising activities as well as proving that they could also do well in their studies.
The event was organised by the Institute Engineers Malaysia – Student Association Faculty of Engineering Malaysia (IEM-SAFE) Unimas Student Section.
The event was also attended by state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Director Nor Hisham Mohamad, IEM-SAFE Unimas Student Section advisor, Dr Shafrida Sahrani and its chairman, Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamed.
