Limkokwing Sarawak to Organise ‘Colour Splash Flea Market 2013’
In a bid to encourage the public to pursue their dreams of becoming successful entrepreneurs, final year students from the Faculty of Communication, Media and Broadcasting (FCMB) at Limkokwing Institute of Creative Technology Sarawak will be organising a ‘Colour Splash Flea Market’ on Nov 9, 2013 at its campus on Jalan Nanas from 10am to 6pm.
This event which is also a final project for Semester 6 students undertaking Diploma in Communication, aims to promote Limkokwing Sarawak as a global and pioneering institution in creating business opportunities to external vendors as well as to the entire Limkokwing community within the campus walls.
Visitors to this event can indulge in various fun-filled activities such as busking, cosplay and cartoon sketching, face painting, X-box Fifa14 tournament, face painting, mini games and many others. There will also be live-band performances by local talents around Kuching namely Syazwan & Arab, Symfotra, Vortax, Lost Wings, Ezriana Razalie & Armani and a special performance by The United Kids of Oi!
The event, which is sponsored by Syarikat U-Tech, is deemed as a constructive way to arouse interest and inculcate skills in making profitable businesses.
Project Manager for the ‘Colour Splash Flea Market’, Nur Fitriayu Yusop is confident that this inaugural flea market will bring together young business-minded individuals who can contribute to the society.
“I hope this event will help to enhance the relationship between the students, staff and public, plus potential students will also be able to be involved and explore future career possibilities in the business profit-making world,” she said.
According to FCMB Programme Leader, Afida Khasuma Zaidi, the event serves as a platform for the students to apply the theoretical aspects of Public Relations and Event Management they have learned in class.
“The event is not only an avenue for the students to prove their capabilities in ensuring the event’s objectives are fulfilled, it is simultaneously a great opportunity for those involved to generate income and polish their business skills,” she added.
The ‘Colour Splash Flea Market’ is open to the general public and visitors are encouraged to sign their name in the allocated autograph area as a sign of support for the event. Those who purchase items worth more than RM30 at the flea market are eligible to get free face or henna painting.
