SIBU: The first batch of 50 medical students will do their clinical training at the Sibu Hospital beginning Jan 2014, SEG International Berhad (SEGi) group managing director Tan Sri (Dr) Clement Hii said.

Hii said these 50 students had completed their first and second year studies at SEGi University and they would do their third and fourth year studies at the Medical Sibu Campus to be set up at the hospital.

He said the second and third batch of medical students coming here to do their clinical training would follow suit in 2015 and 2016.

“All this is aimed at making Sibu an education hub for medical studies for the years to come,’ he added.

Hii was speaking at the annual Speech Day of SMK Sacred Heart held here on Nov 2.

Among those at the function included Right Reverend Thomas Connor, Guest-of-honour Clifford Hii, President of Sacred Heart Old Student Association Robert Lau and principal’s Stephen Tan.
