Ethnic drum festival to feature tribal drums from all over Malaysia
KUCHING: The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) will be organising the Nusantara Ethnic Drum Festival 2013 (Pesta Pukulan Gendang Etnik Nusantara 2013) on Nov 22 to 23 at the Kuching Waterfront godown amphitheatre.
According to a press statement from DBKU, the festival will be launched on Nov 22 at 8pm by the Minister of Tourism Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg with the purpose of promoting traditional arts, particularly the various ethnic tribal drums all over Malaysia to local and international tourists.
During the carnival, a total of eight groups will showcase their talents consisting of Iban, Orang Ulu, Melanau and Indian from Sarawak.
Also, groups from Terengganu, Kuala Lumpur and West Kalimantan will take part in the carnival.
On Nov 23, there will be workshops starting at 10am.
