Celebrating Warriors Day at Padang Merdeka

KUCHING: The sky above Padang Merdeka was filled with action as paratroopers from various security forces performed the parachute jumping demonstration.

 

Jointly organised by the Malaysian Ex Services Association (PBTM) and the Malaysian First Infantry Division, the event on Nov 2 saw four paratroopers performing the jump from a Nuri helicopter.

 

Held in conjunction with the official launching of the state level annual Warriors Day Fund Raising (KTP), the event was graced by Housing, and Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

 

The two-day event, which ended Nov 3 also saw the exhibition of several military vehicles and both modern and conventional military equipment.

 

Other side activities included a charity run which was divided into three categories, namely men open (18-42 years old), ladies open (18-42 years old) and veterans (42 and above).

 

Abang Johari when met by reporters after the event also announced an allocation of RM20,000 from the state government to the Warriors Fund.
