Kolej Sunway Kuching’s Teo is seventh in world ranking
KUCHING: Kolej Sunway Kuching’s Melissa Teo Pei Yuen is the first Malaysian to score 85 per cent in her Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Paper F8 (Audit and Assurance), putting her seventh in the world ranking.
The former SMK Batu Lintang, who is doing ACCA course full time at the college, said she was delighted with the achievement.
She is among the few former students of the school who have made the state and country proud due to their achievements in (ACCA) professional examination.
For her success, the college presented a token of appreciation to her former school in the form of RM500 development fund.
The principal, Saftuyah Adenan, said she was proud of Melissa’s achievement and that they would utilize the fund to run some of their activities.
“We did receive similar fund (RM3,000) from the college before which was very helpful to the Parent-Teacher Association to run their activities,” she told reporters before receiving the (RM500) cheque at the school yesterday.
Saftuyah thanked the college for the gesture and hoped that the talk on Sept 30 to be given by the college would motivate the students further in their studies.
CEO of Kolej Sunway Kuching, Joseph Lim, said that Melissa was one of 200,000 students from 170 countries around the world who sat for the F8 Audit and Assurance paper.
“It is an essay and calculation type of paper which is not easy to pass. However, Melissa triumphed in both,” he said.
Melissa, the daughter of Billy Teo, a former MAS employee, said she was very happy with her result, adding that she had six more papers to sit before completing her ACCA course next year.
She was also thrilled to be back at her former school (for the function yesterday) where she completed her Form 5 in 2010.
Also present at the function were Lucy Read the marketing manager of Kolej Sunway Kuching, SMK Batu Lintang senior assistant Png Hellon and counselor Khoo Siaw Huang.
