Free ‘October Baby’ movie screening and seminar coming up
KUCHING: Star Cineplex Kuching will be holding a seminar and free screening for its new movie, ‘October Baby’ on Oct 5.
The cineplex manager Desmond Koh said the programme aimed to raise the message of anti-abortion and educate the public and the younger generation about a healthy man-woman relationship.
“This educational movie will be shown at Star Cineplex in Sibu, Miri, Bintulu and Sandakan from Oct 6 after the free screening in Kuching on Oct 5,” he said at a press conference here yesterday.
The seminar will start at 7pm and the movie screening is from 8pm to 10pm at Star Cineplex Kuching. A doctor has been invited to give the talk and there is a question-and-answer session.
The movie starring Rachel Hendrix and Jason Burkey is about a 19-year-old college freshman, Hannah, who suffers from epilepsy, asthma and depression.
She felt that she should not exist in this world and this thinking has been buried deep inside her heart. She learns not only that she is adopted, but that her biological mother had tried to abort her.
Hannah is curious about the truth, thus she and her friends embark on a journey to search for her biological mother.
In her journey, surprisingly she found hope, love and forgiveness. She is convinced that every life is precious, beautiful and unique.
Those interested can come early on that day as there are only 140 seats available.
Another activity held in conjunction with the screening of the movie is ‘October Baby Contest’.
Parents can send their children’s photos to join the contest by Oct 15, 5pm. It is open to children aged three and below. Photos should be submitted in 4R hardcopy or via email to Star Cineplex Kuching.
Forms can be obtained at the ticketing counter or cut out from the newspapers.
The top 10 finalists will be announced on Oct 17 on Star Cineplex Facebook page and local newspapers. The finalists will have their photo shoots at Kingdom Studio on Oct 18 and 19.
Photos will be posted on Star Cineplex Kuching Facebook page and members of the public can vote for the cutest baby and their vote carries 60 per cent of the scoring.
The other 40 per cent will be given by judges on Oct 27 at Star Cineplex Kuching and the cutest baby will be selected.
Attractive prizes await winners.
